Super-Yacht Sailing Holidays.

Aurous and her sister yachts have transformed sailing holidays.  Newly launched in 2016, Aurous brings a modern level of comfort and space to luxury yachting. She has 4 en-suite cabins, interior and exterior dining for up to 8 people, a fly-bridge “roof terrace” and helm station for the king-of-the-sea views. There is also a further sundeck up front with trampolines, ideal for watching the dolphins play.

As well as being a fast, sleek catamaran, Aurous is also a luxury floating villa.  You are able to enjoy the most beautiful bays and prettiest villages in peace and seclusion, even in peak months.  The cabins are all air-conditioned.  There is a master suite with writing desk, separate shower and electric toilet and king sized bed.  Three other double rooms also have king-sized beds, and the fourth cabin with bunk beds – all have en-suite shower rooms with electric toilets.

Aurous comes with plenty to do; there is a speedboat capable of 30 knots and included is unlimited waterskiing, wakeboarding and wet “ringo” riding.  For those looking for a more peaceful activity, take out our two SUP’s or try a bit of windsurfing.  If this all sounds too energetic,  you have a skipper and chef to ensure you are able to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings in unparalleled safety and comfort.

Use the "drop down" arrow to see detailed information images about the different aspects of Aurous. Whether it is the sleeping arrangements or the catering, or the technical sailing info, it should all be here. Each section has accompanying photos but of course, if there is anything you want to know just email or call us.

Breakfast, a light lunch, all soft drinks, tea/coffee, water and snacks are all included. The only extras are dinner (from £30 for adults, £25 for children) and alcoholic drinks. On booking you will be sent a request form for your preferences. Part of the fun of having a private chef is choosing the menu daily.

Most meals are taken on deck and there is plenty of room around the cockpit table. image does not show actual double sized 10 seater table) There is also a spacious, light filled dining area inside.

There is a large, light, master cabin with a king sized bed, sofa and dressing area with writing desk. It has a private en-suite shower room and separate toilet.

There are two further double cabins with king sized beds (American queen-sized), each with a private shower room and finally a bunk room, also with en-suite shower room. There is one further double that the crew reside in. This can be swapped for the bunk room, but must be agreed at the time of booking. We regret the crew are unable to change quarters at short notice.

All toilets are electric and the cabins and the living areas have individually controlled air-conditioning.

Aurous comes with a 30 knot 4 metre rib for ferrying people ashore. But it is not just a workhorse and can be used as a ski boat for waterskiing, wakeboarding and towing inflatable toys like ringos and banana boats. However safety is paramount with such a powerful craft and high speed activities are only allowed under qualified supervision.

The dinghy is stowed on a hydraulic bathing platform which is lowered at the press of a button so there is little hanging around when at anchor

Sailing isn't the only wind powered activity on Aurous. She has 2 "SUP's" (stand-up paddle boards) for exploring the coastline and having some light excercise. SUP has really exploded as a sport in the last couple of years and the ease and freedom it gives you is the main reason.

Our SUP's also convert into Windsurfers. If you have never tried the sport, then learning in warm waters is definitely the way to go...

As well as a luxury villa, Aurous is a high performance sailing catamaran with an emphasis on ease of handling. All the sails are electrically controlled from the raised helm station.

Guests can be as involved as they like in the sailing and we would aim to have complete novices competently handling the boat by the end of week. Experienced sailors can take complete control and the crew will just be on hand as required.

The main power unit is a 2 Yanmar 75hp engines and cruising speed is 7 knots or 8 knots. We allow for 3 hours under motor each day so up to 150 miles in a week which is plenty even if the wind gods aren't behaving. In total there is over 800 litres of fuel on board giving a range of around 700 miles.

If you are the sort of person who "doesn't care as long as it works" don't read this, but a lot of our guests like to know what is under the floorboards. There is a quiet generator for powering the on board equipment when not moving. This is supported by a bank of batteries which ensure the 3 fridges stay cold. There is a powerful "whole boat" air conditioning unit with individual cabin controls and a water-maker for converting salt water into fresh water so there is no need to moor to refill water tanks.

Aurous is a large yacht and the use of space makes her seem even bigger. The main cockpit is completely free of ropes and the space can be set up as a large relaxation area or a dining room for up to 10 people. This area is shaded to cool down out of the sun.

In addition there are sunbeds on the flybridge for ultimate sunbathing and a further sundeck up front together with trampolines for play (when stationary) and watching the water go by when moving. There is also a hammock for the foredeck when moored.

...Or kitchen to land lubbers is a place you need never visit but it is as fully equipped as a luxury villa with oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and there is even a washing machine tucked away. More importantly there are 3 fridges (main one, drinks cabinet inside and an on deck drinks cooler so a bottle of water and sun downer (or sun-upper come to that) is always to hand.

There is a powerful fully-battened mainsail, self-tacking staysail and a "code zero" gennaker for heading downwind.

All of the sails are furling and the winches are all electric which makes sailing very easy but great care has to be taken using the powerful winches and must always be supervised by the skipper.

We have fishing gear on board so if you want to bag a tuna for dinner, it is well worth trailing a lure whilst moving between locations.

The main saloon has a 32 inch TV with DVD player in case children need parking out of the sun for a couple of hours. There is also a Bluetooth music system including deck speakers so you can play your favourite tunes.

Hopefully you can switch off while on Aurous but if emails do need to be accessed there is 3G based wifi on board (limited to 5 GB per week free access). There are also 220v sockets (European plugs) for charging devices. Hairdryers are provided.

Corfu Summer Base

The main base for Aurous for summer 2016 is Corfu. There are lots of flights into the airport around 5 miles away (Easyjet and BA from the UK).

Mathraki

The Faraway Islands of Mathraki and Ereikoussa are an easy jaunt from the Corfu base but are far enough away from the masses to ensure you get peace and quiet even in the busiest times.

Anti Paxos

Argentous in the Greek Islands

A solid entry for the prettiest cove accolade in the Mediterranean, Emerald Bay is a magnet for yachts in the Ionian. Most of them visit for the day but with Aurous stay overnight and enjoy the peace and quiet

Fiskardo, Kefalonia

Easy to reach in a 2 week trip, Fiskardo is one of the most fashionable spots in the Ionian and the (rest of?) the super-yachts will be moored outside the harbour. A contrast from some of the secluded bays -here you'll find dozens of eateries and extensive shopping.

The Greek Ionian Sea is one of the most beautiful sailing arenas in the world. Little tide or current, reliable weather, wonderful locals and of course fabulous tavernas for eating out. Aurous' base is Corfu for the flights and from Corfu there are lots of cruising options: north to the "Faraway Islands" , South to Paxos and Kefalonia, and east to the Greek mainland.

About Us

    The Story

The idea of super-yacht holidays was a collaboration between Alisdair Luxmoore of the tour operator “Fleewinter” and Barrie Neilson from the flotilla company “Sailing Holidays”. With a few decades of providing holidays both on land and water between them, and a shared love of sailing, they believed that more people could be persuaded to take to the water if there was no compromise on comfort and little or no sailing experience was needed. Guests are wanting more from their holidays nowadays than a simple stay on a beach, thus the idea of a yacht with the facilities of a luxury villa was born. Finding a boat that ticked all the “super-yacht” boxes, yet keeping prices affordable was a challenge, but in 2015 Argentous was launched to a fabulous reception.  Aurous joined the fleet in 2016 to offer even more space and comfort – a beautiful catamaran with a raft of special features and superb comfort. But don’t take our word for it, come and see for yourself!

    Reviews

Terry C. June 2019:We had a great time on the charter, Kat and Jake were tremendous. They were so accommodating and we all were very impressed with their professionalism. They are truly sailing pros and work very well together. I’ve known a lot of captains but they were the best.’

Becca D. June 2018: ‘ We just returned from our amazing trip in the Ionian with the Aurous crew. We had the best time and truly wouldn’t change a thing. The itinerary we took was outstanding. Every single place felt like a dream. Harry and Helen were absolutely perfect.Their passion for sailing and for their jobs was so apparent from the moment we met them. They were very accommodating, attentive, and professional. We couldn’t have asked for a better crew. Helens food never disappointed and she paid close attention to everybody’s likes and dislikes, improvising as needed to meet various preferences. Harry was an awesome teacher to my very inquisitive husband. He is so knowledgeable and really impressed us.  I could go on and on about both Harry and Helen.

We loved Aurous and everything about the boat. It was so nice to have so much space!  It is so well maintained and comfortable. Our room was beautiful.’

Andrew L. May 2018:We were all impressed with Aurous when we first boarded her, and knew we would get along with Dal and Kate straight away.

They did not disappoint. The route we took was perfect and the food and service was first class. We were genuinely sorry to say goodbye to them both at the end of the week. They are both a real credit to your operation and should be treasured.

Richard T. September 2017:We’re back from a week on Aurous, being wafted around the Ionian by James and Jesse (actually that was two weeks ago now… scary how you get sucked back  into work !). I just wanted to say thanks to Fleewinter for putting together such a great experience.

What a great way to see the islands. Aurous is a beautiful boat, lots of space to relax and you feel very special pulling into harbour on her. It literally was a completely stress-free week from beginning to end, with James’ effortless handling of the boat, Jesse keeping everything running while preparing a constant stream of food and snacks, and the two of them somehow also able to make time to entertain and show us around the various harbours and bays, and guiding us to the best bars and restaurants where the owners always seem to know and like them. Of course I’m biased, but they do make the perfect crew.

Kefalonia to Corfu was a perfect trip, with a good balance of busy and quiet places to see. We really like the attention to detail that Fleewinter provide, from local taxis to extra touches on the boats that make you feel you’re getting a truly special holiday, a cut above regular charters. Something we would want to do again.

Highlights were James slotting the boat cleanly into a gap against the harbour wall in Gaios with interlocking fenders both sides, without touching either neighbour ; Jesse’s Celebrity Gossip quiz ; the paddleboard yoga ; barbecue night ; one of our friends managing to get straight up on water skis first time after a 30-year gap ; James’ daily briefings, Jesse’s origami napkins and talk-through of each meal as it’s served, and of course Fanny the pink flamingo.

    A nicely-run holiday, thanks again’

Linda H. September 2017: ‘I just wanted to drop you a quick email on behalf of our group to say how much we enjoyed our four day sailing holiday aboard Aurous last week. James and Jessie were exceptional hosts and are clearly tremendous assets to your operation. We loved the food, the Catamaran, the water sports (Flamingo-fest!) and all the places we visited and could not have asked for anything better including the glorious sunshine that blessed us on our voyage. I have already waxed lyrical to interested friends but think I might shut up now in case they commandeer the week I’m hoping to book next year with family.

Thanks also to Anna at head office who responded promptly and efficiently to any queries pre and post booking.

It really was a heavenly holiday and I think we are all still smiling almost a week later!’

Jamie & Jude September 2017: ‘We’ve been back just under a week but the joy of being on Aurous lives with us daily. Thank you both so much for making it such a memorable trip. You really delivered! Such great sailing when the wind was up and being able to play on the toys with a tender at our service was great. As for the food Jesse, you excelled! We couldn’t wait for your next surprise. Such tasty treats and beautifully presented every time. I hope we weren’t too rowdy late at night too often!”

Lucy C. August 2017: ‘James and Jesse were absolutely brilliant even better than last year which we didn’t think could be possible. In particular the food was better than LY and the new toys eg inflatable and wake skate good fun. Nothing was ever too much trouble, Boat still looking fantastic’

David W. July 2017: ‘I am sitting in my office looking at my photo’s of one of the best holidays we have ever had – and we are not short on holidays .

I booked Aurous  to celebrate my 60th with my  family and it could not have been a more perfect choice – Not only were we blessed with perfect weather in a wonderful part of the world , on a boat that ideally  suited our desire for a floating luxury villa , but we were lucky enough to have the perfect crew in James and Jessie . We cannot praise them highly enough . Not only are they highly professional , their sailing and culinary skills  are of the highest order and their work ethic unbelievable . In our experience  they are unsurpassed as hosts  . Without them the week simply would not have been the same

You have a tremendous product , one you should be very proud of and one which we will highly  recommend to anyone who will listen’

Lindsey M. June 2017:We had an amazing time…the boat was incredible and ticked every box and I cannot rate the crew of James and Jesse more highly!!

Once again thank you so much for all your help organising the trip. It was all so smooth and stress free and we have all agreed it has been our best family trip yet!!’

Tracy L. June 2017: ‘In one word “PERFECT”. From the moment we arrived at the Marina and met Alice and Adam (our Dream Team) our holiday began. We all clicked immediately and they could not have done more for us. In fact I cannot think of one single complaint. I could endlessly list all the things they did perfectly but to be honest there isn’t enough space to write it all down.

Aurous was absolutely perfect for the 6 of us. Big enough to give you space if you needed it and beautiful comfy areas to sit all and be together. Our kids used all the equipment on board, water skis, mono skis, paddle boards and scuba equipment.

We asked Alice and Adam to moor us up in small bays and she did that perfectly. From overnighting in a small bay on the south east side of Ithaca to lunching in Valhi Valii and waterskiing in a little bay called Port Leone on Kalamos. They recommended restaurants for us when we went ashore and again no faults at all.”

James W. May 2017: ‘We had a great short break. We have not sailed before. James and Jessie were fantastic and the boat was impressive. Food was excellent and the standard of the experience was 5 star.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.’

Colin G October 2016:  ‘Alisdair, thank you for an outstanding holiday. We had an amazing time, it was a brilliant way to celebrate my big birthday.

The boat was fantastic, and we could not have asked for better hosts than Matt and Naomi. They were great company, and nothing was too much trouble for them; they are a real credit to your company. They had brilliant knowledge of the islands, and picked some great isolated spots for us to enjoy.

The food they prepared for us was fantastic, and the kids loved the watersports. Everything went like clockwork from the pickup at the airport to the return drop off.

I sincerely hope the company goes from strength to strength, and look forward to returning sometime soon..

Lucy C. July 2016:Well I must say we had an absolutely brilliant time thank you Matt, Naomi and Aurous where all totally incredible, the scenery beautiful and the itinerary spot on’

Pam G. June 2016: ‘Quite honestly this was one of the best holidays I have ever had! (It made up for all the bad ones I have had). Beautiful and very well appointed catamaran which created quite a stir coming into ports. I felt proud to be aboard. The skipper inspired confidence and the daily briefing was good and allowed for alternative plans if we wanted to do something else. The food was really good, so well done to the chef. The crew were always helpful and good to get along with, great technical info from Olly. Robert who had sailed on Argentous said how great this yacht was – so I might investigate coming next year if the sailing area is different from what we did this time round for more of a sailing experience. I was glad really that I didn’t have to get involved in the sailing as was recovering from an operation which might have made it difficult.
Just really impressed with the overall holiday experience 🙂 .

Fabulous cabin with en-suite. Lovely dining area, sun areas and viewing area up with the skipper. Everything brand spanking new. All well designed and great spec.

Paxos was a lovely little island and I would consider going there again as a land tourist. Old Corfu town was bustling and interesting, – perhaps more time there would have been nice. We had an interesting bonfire night on shore at one of the anchorages, saw some caves, I learnt to paddleboard. I would say though that the scenery we were passing through was marvellous ( I am trying not to use too many superlatives!). I had no idea that Greece could be so fabulous, in comparison to other Greek trips that I have done in the past, this trip was in another league.’

David S. June 2016: ‘Aurous surpassed our expectations – fantastic amount of living space both inside and out.Great showers.
Matt and Naomi were very professional, discreet, relaxed crew. They were good with the children and provided plenty of watersports’
